Superstar Mustang Junior and Eastern Ranges defender Andrew Barker selected to Victorian Summer Hub.

Victoria’s most talented young footballers gathered for two camps last month, as the Vic Country and Vic Metro summer hub squads were announced. These hubs marked the beginning of preparations for the 2025 AFL and AFLW Under-18 Championships, featuring primarily top-age players, along with a select group of promising bottom-age talents.
Mustangs Junior Andrew Barker no stranger to State selection and preparations, featuring in the u18 futures games last year against Queensland. Rookie Me was at the camps and had this to say about Andrew - "One of a few tall defenders in the squad slightly below genuine key position height, Barker is coming off a solid bottom-age campaign for the Eastern Ranges. The 17-year-old played 16 CTL games last year for averages of 11.8 disposals, 3.8 marks and 3.0 rebound 50s. His solid frame allows him to lock down on dangerous forwards and he defends hard, playing the percentages to split contests he cannot win. His strong set of hands were on show in Vic Metro’s Futures clash against Queensland."
Andrew debuted for our Senior Men early last year in Round 3 against Beaconsfield finishing with 74 ranking points, 20 disposals, 7 marks, 4 spoils and 4 rebound 50's playing out of the backline. Barker would play 1 more game for us later in the season against Doncaster, spending most of his year in the Eastern Ranges team as a bottom age player cementing himself in the 23 each week.
